The Mary Alice Cox Fund for Lifelong Learning

As a result of a generous bequest from Mary Alice Cox, Beta Omega, Muncie Alumni, the Fraternity has established a fund whose purpose is the continued or renewed development or the mid-career transition of its members in any field of professional music. The award can be used for continued or renewed professional development in any field of professional music, including but not limited to performance, composition, pedagogy and education, music therapy, music administration, and music technology. The recipient will be chosen from alumni who have maintained their affiliation for twenty (20) or more years whether through alumni chapters or allied membership. Whenever possible, the recipient will be announced at the international convention, beginning with the 2008 convention.

 

1.                  All applicants must be currently affiliated members of Mu Phi Epsilon (annual international dues paid).  Applicant shall give name, address, chapter of initiation and present affiliation.

 

2.                  A minimum of 20 years of continuous membership in Mu Phi Epsilon is required for consideration.  This can include collegiate membership.

 

3.                  Proposals must be adequately detailed with a plan of action and a proposed schedule.  Describe what you expect to accomplish and how that will benefit you.  Proposed costs should be documented.  The proposal shall be typewritten or computer generated, double-spaced, and on quality bond paper.  Photocopies are acceptable.

 

4.                  Entries must be postmarked by January 31, 2008, and received by David Champion, International 4th Vice President, Music Advisor, 229 15th St, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266-4603.  Each applicant must include a $25 entry fee check made payable to Mu Phi Epsilon and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of papers.

 

5.                  Reports of projects, abstracts, excerpts or summaries of the winning project may be published in The Triangle of Mu Phi Epsilon.

 

6.                  Due care will be used in protecting all papers, photos and other submitted materials, but each applicant specifically releases all persons, including the International Executive Board of Mu Phi Epsilon and the judges, from any and all claims of damages arising out of the loss or destruction of submitted entries, however caused.
