Ruslan Biryukov Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition Winner


ANNOUNCING

 

The Winner of the 2007 Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition just held in Sacramento is cellist Ruslan Biryukov. Biryukov, Mu Nu, known for his "superb artistry, passion, and individuality" has performed throughout the world, including countries in the former USSR, Europe, and the United States. Memorable chamber music experiences include performances with Midori at Disney Hall in Los Angeles, cellist Kirill Rodin, and members of the Ysaye Quartet. Ruslan Biryukov has been a master teacher in music festivals in Europe and Russia, and has taught at the Ippolitov-Ianov State Institute of Music in Moscow, and the Music Academy of Lovran, Croatia. His creative artistic ideas are based upon the artistic tradition he learned from esteemed artists such as Kirill Rodin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Danill Shafran, Natalia Gutman, Janos Starker, Steven Iserlis and Eleanore Schoenfeld. Ruslan Biryukov received his formal music education at the Baku Music Academy in Azerbaijan, the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory, and the USC Thornton School of Music. He earned international recognition by winning major awards in Azerbaijan and by the inclusion of his name in the Gold Book of Russia's international program "New Names".
