Sterling Patrons of Mu Phi Epsilon

In 1989 the International Executive Board began the tradition of asking outstanding musicians and patrons of the arts to serve as Sterling Patrons.

A Sterling Patron serves the Fraternity as a whole, and is named for our Founder, Dr. Winthrop Sterling.

I. Criteria for Sterling Patrons
A. Sterling Patrons shall be of recognized prominence and renown as patrons of the arts, an arts benefactor, or related to the field of music as a composer, conductor, educator, arts administrator, musicologist or performing artist.
B. Mu Phi Epsilon does not solicit a member, honorary member or national/international patron of another music fraternity, including Delta Omicron and Sigma Alpha Iota, to be inducted as a Sterling Patron of MØE.
C. A Sterling Patron is not required to pay dues or purchase a badge.
D. A Patron pin is available for purchase as a gift to a patron or by the patron.
E. Other gifts may be given at the discretion of the presenting chapter. However, the lovely framed certificate sent from IEO should be the focus of the presentation ceremony.
F. Chapters in the near vicinity of the Sterling Patron may want to plan a public recital, reception or other special event in recognition of the inductee. Such an event could be the chapter’s Community Service Project.
